The St. Mary’s Basilica Care of Creation Team seeks to inspire all parishioners on restoring and preserving God’s creation as encouraged by Pope Francis in his encyclical Laudato Si’, and to plan and take steps in order to fulfill this goal.
Our Care for Creation Team is our response to the new appeal from Pope Francis on Care for Our Common Home (Laudato Si’) which he addressed to “every person living on this planet“. He asked us to engage in dialog about how we are the future of our planet, how the Church and the world are called to acknowledge the urgency of our environmental challenges and to join him in freely embarking on a new path of protecting Mother Earth, by including changes in our daily lives. This encyclical is written with both hope and resolve, looking to our common future with candor and humility. Learn more about the encyclical Laudato Si’ that has inspired our team to take this initiative and will hopefully inspire you to join us as well:
