Order of Christian Initiation of Adults (OCIA)

How Do I Become Catholic?

People are drawn to the Catholic Church in many different ways. Perhaps you’ve attended a Catholic wedding or funeral, had a meaningful conversation with a Catholic friend, or felt a stirring in your heart while exploring life’s deeper questions. Whether you’re seeking spiritual renewal, a deeper relationship with God, or simply curious about the Catholic faith—you are welcome here.

Your journey begins with the Order of Christian Initiation of Adults (OCIA).

What Is OCIA?

OCIA is the process through which adults and older children are introduced to the Catholic faith and prepared to receive the Sacraments of Initiation: Baptism, Confirmation, and Eucharist.

OCIA is for:

  • Unbaptized adults seeking to become Catholic
  • Baptized Christians from other denominations who wish to enter into full communion with the Catholic Church
  • Baptized Catholics who have not yet received Confirmation and/or Eucharist

Through weekly sessions, you’ll explore Catholic beliefs, reflect on Scripture, and grow in faith with the support of a sponsor and parish community.

When & Where Do Classes Meet?

  • Start Date: Wednesday, September 9th 2026
  • Time: 6:30 PM – 8:15 PM
  • Frequency: Weekly on Wednesdays
  • Location: Social Hall, located just downstairs from the church

How Long Does OCIA Take?

Our OCIA (Order of Christian Initiation of Adults) journey follows a structured schedule, beginning in early September and concluding in May, typically around Pentecost. While we do have a set timeline, this is not a race or a checklist—it’s a sacred journey of conversion and discipleship.

Just as Jesus walked with His disciples over time, allowing their hearts, minds, and souls to be transformed, we too believe that true conversion takes time. This is not about joining a club—it’s about entering into a relationship with Christ and His Church. We invite you to walk this path with patience, openness, and trust, knowing that faith is not rushed—it is received.

The Four Stages of OCIA

  1. Inquiry – Ask questions and explore freely
  2. Catechumenate – Learn and grow in faith with a sponsor
  3. Purification & Enlightenment – A prayerful Lenten preparation
  4. Mystagogy – Reflect and live your new faith after Easter
