Advent and Christmas Schedule

Advent is a period of preparation, extending over four Sundays, before Christmas.  The word Advent comes from the Latin advenio, “to come to,” and refers to the coming of Christ. This refers, first of all, to our celebration of Christ’s birth at Christmas; but second, to the coming of Christ in our lives through grace and the Sacrament of Holy Communion; and finally, to His Second Coming at the end of time.  If you are visiting, new to the area, or have been away from your faith awhile, we invite you to join us during the season of Advent and Christmas.  All are welcome by the Franciscan Friars of the Province of Saint Barbara!

  1. I havn’t been to church in forever and would love to come to midnight mass on December 24-25th. Can anyone come or do you have to be a member of parrish?

    • Mary, everyone is welcomed at St. Mary’s Basilica. Please come and know your family and friends are welcome to attend, too. I recommend arriving early for the Christmas Carols at 11:15 PM to make sure you will have a seat for the Midnight Mass. Hope to see you there. – Br. Scott
